If you care about or are interested in sea turtles, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is the place to visit. I've been there several times. And the Palm Beach Post reports thousands of people turned out over the weekend for TurtleFest. The event, in its 11th year, promotes conservation by giving visitors an up-close look at threatened and endangered sea turtles. There also are educational programs on the environment, as well as music, art and games for children. Turtlefest featured a student art contest for the third consecutive year. Cole Pollard, an eighth-grader at Watson B. Duncan Middle School in Palm Beach Gardens, created the art used in event T-shirts and commemorative posters this year. Juno Beach-based Loggerhead is a nonprofit that promotes conservation of Florida’s coastal ecosystems with a special focus on threatened and endangered sea turtles.
