Palm Beach County Health Department officials captured a raccoon that later tested positive for rabies. County officials were alerted about a raccoon acting strangely at Carlin Park in Jupiter. The person who saw the raccoon returned and captured the animal. They then took it to the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, who turned it over to Animal Care and Control for testing. Rabies is a disease that affects the nervous system and is fatal to warm blooded animals and humans.
