1,700 minds are now at east after Office Depot has picked Florida for its global headquarters, choosing Boca Raton over the Illinois home of its merger partner OfficeMax.
Last month Office Depot Inc. and OfficeMax completed their $1.2 billion merger and took the name Office Depot.
There were concerns that the office-supply company could take move out of it's Boca headquarters, in favor of Illinois, but company leaders have decided to keep the global headquarters on Military trail, saving those jobs.
In addtiion, employees will likely be moved from Illinois to South Florida.
Office Depot is one of only two Fortune 500 companies based in Palm Beach County.
